EnterSTEAM Survey Report
EnterSTEAM Survey on STEAM Education in Europe
As part of the Erasmus+ KA2 project EnterSTEAM, a comprehensive survey was conducted to explore how STEAM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) is currently understood, applied, and perceived by educators across Europe. The survey represents a key research activity of the project and provides an evidence-based foundation for the development of EnterSTEAM’s methodological guide and digital toolkit.
The survey was implemented in December 2024 in six partner countries—Austria, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Romania, and Türkiye—and involved educators from general education, vocational education and training (VET), adult education, and non-formal education sectors. Its main objective was to assess educators’ awareness of the STEAM approach, identify challenges in its implementation, and examine its perceived impact on creativity, entrepreneurship, inclusion, and transversal skills development.
Beyond measuring familiarity with STEAM, the survey also explored how teachers view the role of Arts within STEAM, the connection between STEAM and entrepreneurial thinking, and the potential of STEAM methodologies to support inclusive education and equal learning opportunities. In addition, respondents shared their needs regarding training, resources, institutional support, and collaboration, offering valuable insights into the real conditions teachers face when attempting to integrate STEAM into their daily practice.
The findings presented in this report highlight both strong support for STEAM education and significant gaps related to training, time, and resources. These results directly inform the next phases of the EnterSTEAM project, ensuring that the tools, materials, and learning activities developed respond to actual needs identified by educators and support sustainable, inclusive, and innovative STEAM teaching across Europe.
